My Story

Born and raised in northwest Ohio, Hope had ample opportunities to explore the arts from a young age. Her family was incredibly supportive, with many other artistic family members to provide advice and encouragement. She started attending art classes at the age of 4 at the Toledo Museum of Art. In school, Hope was always looking for opportunities to take art classes to grow her skills and learn new media; she supplemented these experiences with private art lessons, starting oil painting at 14 years old.

Following high school, Hope earned her BFA in Studio Art (focused in painting/drawing), with honors, from the Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD). After completing her undergraduate degree, Hope started her own art business before continuing her education through a studio art post-baccalaureate program in Florence, Italy, and then earning her MBA in Marketing from Tiffin University. In 2016, following graduation, Hope moved to Prescott Valley, Arizona, where she worked in arts administration for a parks and recreation department, moving back to Toledo in 2020. Once back in Toledo, Hope took a position with The Arts Commission of Greater Toledo before moving to her current position at the BGSU School of Art in fall 2023. Through the last ten years, her career in arts administration have focused in marketing (social media, website design, graphic design, etc.), event planning, and customer relations.

Hope's philosophy on art is based on accessibility rather than exclusivity - anyone should be able to make and enjoy art, and it should be a priority in all of our lives.
